The Governor of Ekiti State,Ayodele Fayose, Tuesday visited Ipao Ekiti ,the community where suspected herdsmen killed a farmer, Olayemi Tunde, on Sunday.
Fayose who appeared in military camouflage said , “In Ekiti State under my watch, you cannot kill human being and go scot-free. We will protect every law abiding residents of the State, including Fulani herdsmen and their cows.”
The Gov. condoled with the leaders of the community as well as the family of the deceased.
Fayose, who directed the setting up of a committee to look into the immediate and remote causes of incessant attacks in Ipao Ekiti by suspected herdsmen and other surrounding towns, appealed to the community not to engage in any reprisal as his government is equal to the task of meting out Justice.
He also, appreciated the prompt response of security agencies – army, police, DSS, Civil Defence and the local hunters to preventing further breakdown of law and order in the town.
